Day 28

Wind and cold cashed us back into Wanaka early for breakfast and refilling water. Porridge eaten, we headed for Roy’s Peak, a 6h return mountain climb. It got hot fast as there was no wind on the way up. I counted up the altitude with the GPS on the way to 1584m from 372m. The views slowly showed up along with the cold at the peak. After a snack we headed all the way back down to Sue. In total we did all 14.9km in 3.75hr moving time. We changed clothes then had some lunch from where we got the hot drinks yesterday. Filling and healthy, a muffin from New World was dessert. Dropped into an op shop and got another cassette tape and tried another CD, Franz Ferdinand. Sue played the CD! But she is fussy and won’t play it sometimes. Booked some movie tickets then went to the lake for a walk and watched how people and birds were reacting to the immense wind coming off the lake. We saw Fantastic Beasts and where to find them which was very good in a particularly unique little cinema. Returned to the lake for one last night in Wanaka.
