Day 26

It was cloudy and we started early having pancakes for breakfast – they didn’t co-operate and stuck. As rain begun to fall the idea of swimming in a pool was a good one, but after some confusion it was discovered that the pool was right next to a school. Enduring the typical school morning chaos I found out the pool was closed until 1pm, so we had to find something until then. Yesterday we saw an attraction called Puzzling World. This turned out great! First we explored the illusions area. Along with typical ones (floating tap, wonky room, tilted house) there were also large faces that followed you as you walked (I made these bob up and down) and changing holographic images. Spent some time in a room full of puzzles, I separated a ring from chained horseshoes and Marianne balanced Kiwis, we went into the maze! There were two options. Visit the four corners in any order and exit, or (more challenging) in order and exit. WE COMPLETED IT IN ORDER. It was great fun and having more people lost in the maze made it better.
The next destination was the info center to learn about any walks and get some maps. Then we refilled our water supply, had lunch and went shopping before returning to the pool! At last we could enjoy a swim, well, I just floated around. Leaving the pool we went to Mt. Iron for a loop walk with great views. After all her swimming, Marianne was a bit less enthusiastic than I was, but eventually enjoyed it. Craving something warm we went to get a hot drink, after picking up my towel I left at the pool. Enjoyed some hot chocolates then went to the library and after much searching, found a hotel to rest and do laundry. With the room booked, drove to the lake to re-organize Sue and have dinner. Using tomato soup and macaroni, tin spaghetti was created. Walked around the lake after dinner, seeing a tree growing in the lake attracting many photographers. Also saw a nice garden and watered some volunteer planted plants. Returned to the same spot from the morning for the night.
