Day 15

We woke up in the camping ground, had porridge next to lots of other travelers. I decided to pay $2 to exercise a bit at the gym and train my upper body until we could get some fuel at 10am. We then drove and walk to the Lake Hanlon which was very nice and the wind and rain were still chasing us, we stopped at Mokihinui to do the Gentle Annie Walk. It was an easy maze (Jack tried to race me… but lost) and a short coastal walk. I was starving so we stopped near the only pub around near Hector town to have some (not cheap) nachos. Sadly the rain caught us as we went to walk the chasm creek trail (which was actually half closed because of the bridge). We found a better path driving a little further but we got all washed out. We wait under a tunnel near impressive moss wall. Quite wet we didn’t feel like the charming creek walk not far was interesting. It was a mistake as we drove past the other end of the track and looked up on internet all the pictures from it.
So we decided to do it and it was quite surprising. We saw few very old bins for trains while we walked in mud and water that covered the whole train line. Crossing few tunnels, we discovered a couple of glow worms (not mentioned on the map! …strange animals!) We saw an impressive and huge waterfall as we kept walking along the river (of course Jack jumped on the swing bridge). Back in the car and a little tired, we drove then to the amazing (lol) Westport city. We did some food shopping at New World, got fuel and water and decided to watch a movie that night. We play around on the seesaw before watching Inferno. The movie was good, understandable for the little Frenchy but quite scary and horrible in some parts. We thought to sleep in the cinemas car park but we forgot the bell nearby that was ringing every 15 minutes. I couldn’t sleep so i drove (illegally) to the beach to sleep in a dark and quiet place.
