Day 14

We woke up and the rain started falling as we got ready to make some pancakes under the sheltered tables with a sneaky Weka. Then we did both of yesterdays walks for Jack to take a picture with his retro camera. We saw as well Galadriels Mirror Tarn to skip some stones (stubborn Jack!) and the Box Canyon and Crazy Paving caves. It was quite dark and cold in the cave which kept going a fair way. I let Jack explore the top of the cave which slippery and waited in the dark with my phone torch and the (useless and cheap) light globe… weird and scary experience… But we found our first glow worms hidden in the darker spots!

We went to do the Fenian track but half way there the way to go to the cave got very difficult with all the fallen trees, the mud and rain. I gave up, not sure if the cave was actually worth all the risks of injury (also i needed to go to the loo since we started the walk 40 minutes ago…). We hurried back and then went to see on any easy walk the giant Rimu tree. We went to the beach and bought sausages and cider for dinner. We went to play Pokemon GO by the school and the museum because I ran out of potions after battling in few towns. There was a camping ground near by, not too expensive so we spent the night there to wait tomorrow to get some fuel and keep driving. We made hot dogs with out left over garlic-tomato sauce and went to bed, watching some Youtube videos and fireworks around.
