Day 13 – Centro de Postres

David and I stumbled upon a mini McDonalds in the metro.  It’s called “Centro de Postres.”  You probably guessed that these express style McDonalds offer only a menu of McDonalds desserts! Ice creams, McFlurries, that famous apple pie. That is quite a specialty shop.

McDonalds opened the Centro de Postres around 2008.  Because of the global recession, this menu was supposed to attract guests by offereing $.60 ice creams and $1 sodas.  The other motivation of the Centro de Postre was to convert new customers.  McDonalds convienently draws you in for an ice cream in the metro (which you can totally eat on the metro, I’ve seen it) and next thing you know you’re a loyal customer hooked on their high-fat diet.

"Unforgettable Moments"

I was glad to see no one at this Centro de Postres.  There are so many delicious baked goods available in grocery stores, on the street and of course in adorable locally owned bakeries.  There are amazingly creative flavors of ice cream available from Michoacan and other vendors all over the place.  The only reason I can think of why one would want patronize a Centro de Postres is to fufill a strange desire to eat ice cream while being crammed into a sweaty subway car.
