Crosby Joins Elite Club in Win over Sabres

Sidney Crosby joined an elite club of NHL players last night. With a goal and a pair of assists during the Penguins 6-5 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres , he reached the 1,600 points in his career milestone.
He hit the mark from an assist on a Bryan Rust goal in the first period. He then went on to assist an Evgeni Malkin goal during the third period. That goal was Malkin‘s 500th career goal.
Crosby would then send the home fans away happy as he scored 1:38 into the overtime period to give the Penguins the 6-5 win.
Upon reaching 1,600 points Crosby is only the 10th player to do so. He is also the only active player with that many points. He is in second place in Penguins history for points behind Mario Lemieux, who has 1,723 points to Crosby’s current 1,602. Malkin at 1,307 points is in third place throughout Penguins history for points scored.
It’s exciting to see Malkin and Crosby both reach their next milestones and to do it on home ice is special. Can’t wait to see more from this duo this season. Can they lead the Penguins to the playoffs, or maybe even another run at the Stanley Cup?
