COVID-19 volleyball updates

Grinnell appears to be the first and only institution in either the Central or Midwest regions to formally cancel the 2020 volleyball season thus far.

The UAA, minus a Carnegie Mellon program that said today it will not compete this season, also announced today that conference play won’t occur for any association volleyball teams that do compete this season.

I’m sure everyone knows that the reigning national champs — Johns Hopkins — and its entire Centennial Conference have already announced that they are not playing this season. Other traditionally outstanding volleyball programs forgoing the 2020 season as of now include Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Wesleyan (Conn.), Bowdoin, UMass Boston, MIT, Wellesley and Williams.

The best resource I’ve seen for updates regarding season cancellations and official statements is the list provided by D3Playbook. I have no affiliation to D3Playbook, but it is a recommended Twitter follow for news around the division.

I may post about other Central and Midwest region cancellations, if any, but other folks are performing the task of updating around the country much better than I could.

Be well out there.
