While the MLB offseason is underway with free agency it’s a potential new rule that’s making headlines.

MLB is discussing adding the Golden At-Bat rule. The rule allows for teams to once per game take any batter they want and give them another at-bat even if it isn’t there turn in the order. Essentially it’ used to get your best hitter up again in clutch situations they can deliver in.

For those fans of Banannaball you have seen this rule in action already. I think it’s fun to see the golden batter with the cape and gold helmet walking up the box with the golden batter intro. It builds the stakes that the team is going to use this strategy.

I could see where fans wouldn’t like it. Imagine losing because your favorite team gets to send their top hitter to the hit for their worst hitter. Plus, it’s done without taking the player out like with a pitcher hitter, so there’s no penalty to try it.

Yet if you want to see the best hitters hit with the game on the line it can be fun. If you want more runs scored it could add to that. I wouldn’t mind it being added.
