Chloe Leonard Excited for Future In Queen City with D1 Bound Queens University

To be a two-sport athlete at a school as large as Seneca Valley, you need to be pretty dang talented. For Chloe Leonard, a recent soccer commit to Division I bound Queens University of Charlotte, there’s little debate she’s exactly that.

“I was invited for a visit by Coach (Shannon Neely) Noel and a tour of the beautiful school. I like that it’s a smaller campus, with a familiar sense of a close-knit community, which is important to me. I also fell in love with Charlotte, which is very close to school and has absolutely everything to offer. I’m completely excited to call Queens my home away from home!”
Leonard is a part of the Royals 2023 recruiting class and plans to study to enter the medical field someday. Soon, she will enter her senior year of high school with Seneca Valley, a school that’s seen her become a WPIAL AAAAAA honorable mention, a Big 56 First-Team selection, a Big 56 Section First-Team honoree, a two-time letter winner, and a Century Club Representative for the Girls Academy League in soccer. Additionally, she’s added three letters in varsity basketball. To achieve a possible seven letters at Seneca Valley is rare and she said this about being able to be a multiple-sport athlete.

“Although it’s a lot of work playing both soccer and basketball, it’s worth it,” she said. “The sports keep me busy, focused, and actually compliment each other regarding ball control, positional awareness, and agility. I also have wonderful coaches who I greatly respect and supportive teammates.”
Leonard has also played club soccer for a number of years, with her currently playing for Century Football Club GA, a team with intense travel commitments. She’s been able to remain dedicated to both sports while also playing travel soccer in the spring and summer months.

“(Century) has given me great coaching and teammates that have become my closest friends. When I think of Century, I think of family. Everyone is supportive and always there for each other. The program really emphasizes player development. Getting to do technical training with well-known collegiate coaches and practicing with players who are already competing on the collegiate level are only a few examples of how they want the best for their players.”
While playing in tournaments around the country has been exciting, her top moment from athletics so far was the feeling after her team advanced to the WPIAL final and realizing she had the chance to play at Highmark Field.

With one final year of high school left, Leonard is hopeful to add to an impressive resume and help Seneca Valley to a successful season both on the court and the pitch. Best of luck as you head into senior year, Chloe! Thank you for the chance to share your commitment and accomplishments to date ⚽️
