The Pittsburgh Pirates tried to even up this weekend’s series in Atlanta Yesterday. Paul Skenes started. He pitched about as good as usual, going six innings allowing one run, which was a first inning home run, while walking two and struck out nine batters. He threw 102 pitches with 61 of them being strikes.

Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth inning where he struck out two batters. The pair of strike outs gave him 1,197 for his career, which is the most strikeouts in Major League Baseball history by a left-handed relief pitcher. He passes Billy Wagner for the record.

Bryan Reynolds went 1-5 in the contest to extend his hitting streak to 25 games.

However, despite the strong efforts the Pirates would fall in 10 innings 2-1.

They look to avoid the sweep this afternoon at 11:35 AM. Bailey Falter starts against Spencer Schwellenbach.
