Championships Committee notes

The DIII Championships Committee met a few weeks ago. In news relating to volleyball:

• There would have been the same 43 automatic qualifying conferences this season as last although the list still says Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference instead of American Rivers Conference.

• Averett head coach Danny Miller was approved as national chair.

• The Committee is accepting feedback regarding the addition of selection criteria.

• The Aug. 5 Board of Governors meeting could result in a change to fall championships. Contingency plans under consideration include predetermined regional hosts and amended championship brackets/fields based on current sponsorship percentages by sport.
