Centenary Hires Kayla Black

With the Oxy hire, we were down to just Centenary with an open head volleyball coach position in Region X. Well, it looks like I actually missed the Centenary hire, which was announced earlier this month. Coach Kayla Black was previously the head coach at NAIA Philander Smith where she led the team to an NAIA Tournament appearance and a 22-win season in 2023.

Coach Black is a young dynamic hire who understands the task at hand. One quote from the article stood out to me from Coach Black, “What made me want to take this job is the challenge of doing the “impossible” – that is what excites me because that is what I have always done.” Centenary is a tough program to recruit but I love this direction for the program and I look forward to their future success.
