Can being a gymnastics fan cause you to get an eating disorder?
It can according to the girl that runs this blog above. I know I am gym truthteller and this is a serious issue so this blog will be totally supportive of what doublesalto is going through but I never really thought of this being a reason why someone would stop eating. Thinking back I now I can see how it can happen. You see all these really tiny gymnasts that the world claims is the perfect body shape and I guess it can easy to talk yourself into believing that is true.
I don’t remember how many times I have heard people call these gymnasts fat and I would think the people saying this would were crazy. While some gymnasts are not in gymnastics shape the word fat gets thrown around way too much in my opinion especially when you are talking about a gymnast no taller then 5 feet and weighing no more then 105 pounds.
Nastia Liukin has put on a lot of weight since last season but with not training as much as she was leading up to the Olympics I would hardly call her fat. Yet I hear this all the time. It gets even worse when people talk about Shawn Johnson.
If I ever use the word fat on this blog to describe someone I want it known it is not meant as a literal thing. I am pretty sure I won’t use the word to describe a gymnast but if for some reason I do know that I mean “for a gymnast” which isn’t fat at all.
