C2C Preview (2025)

The C2C came out with their conference Preview/Prediction article on the upcoming volleyball season. This conference also leaves the voting to the coaches and 6 of the 7 have gone with Christopher Newport to take the title. Salisbury received the other vote, which would have been from CNU’s Head Coach Lindsay Birch. Salisbury did finish second in the poll with UC Santa Cruz right behind in third.

In my Preseason Top 25, I had CNU as the only ranked team from this conference so I, obviously, agree with the choice here. Salisbury is interesting because it caused some back-and-forth between Ricky and myself. I had forgotten that Hannah Smith was transferring over from Virginia Wesleyan and didn’t factor her in my analysis for Salisbury (I did for VWU). If I had, Salisbury would have also been ranked. So, I agree with the top 2 and I also agree that UCSC will edge out Mary Washington for third. In fact, I kind of see a significant gap between CNU/Salisbury and UCSC and Mary Washington. It is interesting to note that the coaches included both Regent and JWU Charlotte as they are still transitioning to become DIII members. I don’t believe either teams’ matches will count towards the official DIII record. Still, they were included here and even more curiouser, the article explains that 6 teams will make the C2C conference tournament. Again, neither Regent or JWU Charlotte would be eligible for the conference’s automatic qualifier.

The article has a nice blurb on each team although the version I saw has the Salisbury blurb missing. I guess I’m not the only one that forgot them! Oh, and UC Santa Cruz will be hosting the conference tournament this year.
