C2C Predictions (2024)

The Coast to Coast (C2C) Conference came out with their coaches predictions earlier this week so I’m a little late getting this out. This is the second year in a row I started this article off like this so maybe more love is needed for the C2C in the future. Or, and hear me out, send me a message when you are going to release stuff. (That goes for all of you.)

Like the SCAC, this poll is done only by the head coaches and they have chosen Salisbury as their top team. They received 4 of the possible 6 first place votes with Christopher Newport receiving the other 2. These two teams finished 1 and 2 overall. In my Preseason Top 25, I had these teams back-to-back in the rankings so I’m going to have to agree with this ordering. I might quibble with 3 and 4 as I think I might have them reversed. The coaches like Mary Washington and then UC Santa Cruz but I don’t like how much Mary Washington is losing this year to graduation. I had them with over 65% Points Loss! Rounding out the 6-team conference is Mount Mary and Warren Wilson. I know virtually nothing about these two teams.

I like the team blurbs this conference does in their article. Since we mainly love the Banana Slugs here, this was their write-up:

UC Santa Cruz: The Banana Slugs bring back 12 returners from the 2023 roster after ending the season 13-18 with a fourth-place finish in the C2C Tournament. Among the returners for UCSC, is two-time second team All-Conference player Kelly Ann Greene who finished the 2023 campaign with a .304 hitting percentage while recording 32 aces and 92 total blocks. The Slugs also bring back Kate Lau and Claudia Moeller who will look to help lead the attack with the pair averaging 1.96 and 1.83 kills per set last season.
