BURRO BANTON, EEK-A-MOUSE, PETER METRO & MAJOR MACKERAL – BBC Radio 1Xtra in Jamaica | Freestyle
Burro Banton (27 December 1956; Kingston, Jamaica) is a dancehall reggae deejay popular in the mid-1980s and 1990s. Peter Metro (born Peter Clarke, Kingston, Jamaica, c. 1960) is a reggae deejay, who released five albums in the 1980s.
Eek-A-Mouse (born Ripton Joseph Hylton, 19 November 1957) is a Jamaican reggae musician. He is one of the earliest artists to be described as a “singjay”. Eek-A-Mouse is well known for pioneering his own style of scatting, differing from the-then toasting deejays in the 80s. He adopted the stage name “Eek-A-Mouse” in 1979, taking the name of a racehorse he always bet on; it was a nickname his friends had used for some time.
Major Mackeral (born December 25, 1967) is a popular entertainer during the digital era of Jamaican dancehall music, most famous for his screeching sounds when he performed live or in studio. This style has also been adopted by female DJ Lady Mackerel, now known as Macka Diamond.
