BURN ANTARES – By My Side (INXS)

Burn Antares, an Australian band, released a cover of INXS’s 1990 hit “By My Side” in 2014. This rendition is particularly significant as the band’s vocalist, Grace Farriss, is the daughter of Andrew Farriss, the keyboardist and primary songwriter for INXS. Andrew Farriss originally wrote “By My Side” about his wife, making this cover a heartfelt family tribute.

“By My Side” is a song by INXS, featured on their 1990 album X. It was released as the third single from the album in 1991. The song is a heartfelt ballad that showcases the band’s softer side, contrasting with their more energetic rock tracks.

In the dark of night Those small hours Uncertain and anxious I need to call you

Rooms full of strangers Some call me friend But I wish you were So close to me

In the dark of night Those small hours I drift away When I’m with you

By my side (In the dark of night) By my side I wish you were I wish you were

Here comes the clown His face is a wall No window No air at all

In the dark of night Those faces they haunt me But I wish you were So close to me

By my side (In the dark of night) By my side I wish you were I wish you were

By my side (In the dark of night) By my side I wish you were I wish you were

In the dark of night Those faces they haunt me I wish you were So close to me Yes, I wish you were By my side
