Bring Good News
“The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.” (Proverbs 15:30)
We could use some good news these days.
Previous to the coronavirus crisis, watching the news was already something I dreaded – as I would usually anticipate a parade of negative news stories. Now, in the midst of this coronavirus crisis, watching the news is like attending one funeral after another. More reports of deaths and infections. More economic strain on our economy. More people losing their jobs and livelihood. More Democrats and Republicans verbalizing their hatred for one another.
We could use some good news these days.
And, even though, I have been delighted to watch the creation of SGN (aka “Some Good News”) by John Krasinki, his news reports are not the best of news that could be shared.
The best of news, the kind of news that refreshes our mind and body unlike anything manufactured on earth, is the news that God is not apathetic to our plight. Our God is as active and sovereign as He has always been. He has not decreased in His love for us one iota. He has given all of us one more day for praising Him and serving others.
What will you do with your day today? How will you refresh someone else?
Paul said that when Philemon was with him, he was refreshed (vs. 20). He expected, what Chuck Swindoll called, a courage transfusion when they were together.
Who will you strengthen today? Who will you bring good news to?
