Brief webcast comments

First of all, I appreciate the NCAA providing coverage. But I wish the announcers were better with facts.

I’ve already heard one “Yuniata” pronunciation (many names were bungled, but that one is the worst). Juniata isn’t undefeated at neutral sites. Megan Sollenberger is a first-team All-American libero. You may want to know who plays that position for the Eagles. UW Oshkosh isn’t 32-2. The Wash U coach, who happens to be the Central Region Coach of the Year, does have a goatee. Trouble for the camera guy was a Wash U assistant coach also has a goatee. Rich Luenemann wasn’t in the frame whenever talk involved the Bears coach. An assistant with a red shirt was, though. Lauren Budde had about seven variations on her name. And on and on.

Looking forward to pronunciations for Katelyn Vara (VAIR-uh), Brittney Cote (COAT-ee), Morgan Liebetrau (LEE-bih-trow), Katie Beining (BINE-ing) and others. Play along with me. It could get interesting.
