Matthew Phillips is a senior at Brashear High in Pittsburgh and soon will be taking the next step in his football career by joining the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College.

“Geneva is local enough where I won’t have a home sick feeling, it’s an affordable option, it will give me the chance to shine bright, and they have a four-year program for my major in civil engineering.”

During COVID-19, Phillips lost 80 pounds, helping him to get in better physical condition. This change has allowed him to get noticed by a collection of schools and become an Academic Athlete of the Year in the WPIAL and a First-Team All-Special Teams performer in the WPIAL.

The Pittsburgh native is also epileptic, but he has not allowed the condition to slow him down in accomplishing a dream he had of playing college football.

Best of luck to you in your last few weeks of high school and in your preparation for college football, Matthew! Appreciate the opportunity to share your commitment and accolades from football so far in your career 🏈
