Book Review Blurb: The Parables of Jesus
Book Ranking – 10 out of 10
Book Title: The Parables of Jesus, by James Montgomery Boice (published by Moody Publishers, 1983)
If you love commentaries written by expositors, you will love this book by James M. Boice.
The author explains twenty-two different parables from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke in this 261-page book. Each parable is grouped into one of five categories: “Parables of the Kingdom”, “Parables of Salvation”, “Parables of Wisdom and Folly”, “Parables of the Christian Life”, and “Parables of Judgement.”
Where Boice is strong is with clarity and illustrations. I would have complete confidence in giving this book to a young believer who doesn’t know the Scriptures well or a believer who has walked with God for five decades.
Boice’s book is theological and accessible to any and every reader. Boice was a pastor; so, he approaches the parables’ applications with shepherding the church in mind. Thus, you will find Boice answering the “so what question” throughout the book.
If you are looking to build your library on the teachings of Christ, N.T. commentaries, or soteriology, get this book.

I would like to thank Moody Publishers for giving me a copy of this book to read, review and apply to my current ministry.
