Body Snatchers (1993)

Director: Abel Ferrara
Starring: Gabrielle Anwar, Meg Tilly, Terry Kinney
A teenage girl and her father discover alien clones are replacing humans on a remote U.S. military base in Alabama.
‘Body Snatchers’ is the type of film I found neither boring, nor very exciting. It served its purpose: to entertain. That’s it.
The film is well made and the performances are good. Terry Kinney stars as pharmacist Steve Malone, who is sent to a military base to test the toxins on the base. His daughter Marti, son Andy, and wife Carol are along for the ride. I enjoyed the initial mystery, as they soon suspected something eerie going on at the base. But once the source of the mystery was revealed, the film treaded along on all too familiar ground, and eventually felt like a TV movie.
I would have liked the plot to offer more substance. There wasn’t really any action or suspense or moments in the film that blew me away. It was like stumbling upon a late night movie on TV that you keep on watching because there’s nothing else to watch. At least the film had a good ending. I’m just wondering if I’m going to remember this movie…
Would I watch it again? No.
