Blood Moon (2014)

Director: Jeremy Wooding

Starring: George Blagden, Tom Cotcher, Barrington De La Roche

A stagecoach of travelers, a gunslinger and two outlaws arrive in a deserted mining town lit by the glow of a reddish full moon. As their worlds collide, they are hunted by a beast that only appears on the night of a blood moon.

So, I decided to watch this on the evening of an actual blood moon. Off course – thankfully – there were no werewolves in my town.

The Norton Brothers have just robbed the bank in a small town. A Handful of travelers – including gunslinger Calhoun – arrive by coach in the town, only to be taken hostage by the Brothers. Trapped inside the saloon, the group of people are being stalked by a werewolf, and the night becomes a fight for survival as they need to stand together.

With tension between the characters and the evil that lurks in the dark, the film is unpredictable and there were a couple of nice surprises. Meanwhile, the Sheriff recruits a woman named Black Deer to help him find the Norton Brothers.

In time, I’m probably not going to remember this, but for now – while it is still fresh in my memory – it was an ok movie. This is obviously a low budget movie with unknown actors and very bad werewolf make-up, and the only reason I decided to watch it was due to the fact there was a blood moon and I was in the moon for a movie set during one. (Off course 2024’s ‘Werewolves’ – also set during a blood moon – is a far superior movie).

Would I watch it again? No, I don’t think so.
