BILLY NOMATES – Nothin’ Worth Winnin’ (2025)

“Nothin Worth Winnin” is from Metalhorse, Billy Nomates’ third studio album, launched on 16 May 2025 via Invada Records.

Metalhorse is a conceptual metaphor likening life to a crumbling funfair, exploring themes of loss, personal turmoil, resilience, and the fleeting moments of joy that make life meaningful. Metalhorse was preceded by three singles:

• “The Test” (lead single, released March 2025), a propulsive, rebellious track inspired by Wall of Death rider Yvonne Stagg.

• “Plans” (second single, April 2025), an upbeat, nostalgic song described by Maries as “getting on the Waltzers at the end of the world” — a love song to love itself amid chaos.

• “Override” (third preview, May 2025), thematic of resilience, blending synth-pop, folk, and country influences.

Maries’ father’s recent passing and her own multiple sclerosis diagnosis significantly shaped the tone and emotional content of the album, which is dedicated to her father, Peter Maries.
