Benard Wins 2024 PBA Cheetah Championship

S. Samek

Deo Bernard is a PBA champion. Bernard entered as the three seed for the PBA Cheetah Championship stepladder. Yet at the end of the night seeding didn’t matter as he downed top seed Marshell Kent 222-204 to win the title. This is the first title for Bernard.

Alec Keplinger and BJ Moore did battle in the opening match of the stepladder finals. It was strike filled contest with a combined 14 between the two. However, a pair of bad break stone eight pins cost Moore the match in a 235-227 loss to Keplinger.

Bernard then bested Keplinger in the next match 257-226 to advance to the semifinal match against Mikey Schlabach. Schlabach struggled greatly during the match and could only muster a 165, which is low for the Cheetah pattern usually known to produce high scores. Bernard took care of things with a 234 game to advance to the finals. This set up the match with Kent, that he would win to claim the title.

The next tournament in the PBA World Series of Bowling to award a title is the Scorpion Championship. You can watch the stepladder for that event tonight.
