Beetlejuice (1988)

Director: Tim Burton

Starring: Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Michael Keaton

The spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out.

What the bloody hell was this?? Despite being so annoyingly slapstick that only Americans can relate to it (or find it funny), it was just stupid! I honestly can’t understand why this film is so highly rated and became such a classic, if I dare use the word with such an atrocious film. The acting was terrible and the dialogue just the same.

Credit where credit is due, though, the production design was very good. The visual effects were also incredible (for its time), and I loved the practical effects. Still, I disliked this film with a passion!

‘Beetlejuice’ won an Oscar for Best Make-up (deservedly so). It was a box office smash, earning $74 million on a $15 million budget.

Would I watch it again? Absolutely not.
