Batman: The Dark Knight (2008)

Director: Christopher Nolan
Starring: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Michael Caine
When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.
What does one say about one of the greatest movies of all time? (According to IMDB, ‘The Dark Knight’ is the 4th highest rated movie of all time). Not only is it one of the best movies, but also one of the best action movies of all time.
‘The Dark Knight’ is an incredible production. The jaw-dropping action sequences are out of this world! (Especially the truck flipping over!!) For a film two and a half hours long, this was fast-paced and exciting from beginning to end. The film never takes a dip where it becomes boring. It is full-throttle all the way! There’s always so much happening all at once, it was awesome. The cinematography is fantastic, and Hans Zimmer once again provides a great score.
Christian Bale really makes a good Batman. I once again enjoyed Michael Caine as Alfred – the voice of reason, if you will. Most of the original cast is back for another adventure, but Maggie Gyllenhaal replaces Katie Holmes as Rachel. Heath Leadger stars as The Joker, and he is FANTASTIC!! Just like Brandon Lee delivered his most iconic final performance in ‘The Crow’, Heath Ledger delivered his best (final) performance of his career in ‘The Dark Knight’. He simply is sensational.
The film has so many incredible scenes that one can hardly refer to the end as the film’s climax. Almost every action scene was so brilliantly done that it might as well have been the film’s climax. ‘The Dark Knight’ is a cinematic masterpiece by one of the best directors of our time, Christopher Nolan.
‘The Dark Knight’ was a huge commercial and critical success. The film raked in just over $1 Billion on a $185 million budget. It received 322 award nominations, winning 159 including Best Actor for Heath Ledger off course (!!), and Best Sound Editing. It received nominations in almost every category.
Would I watch it again? Absolutely!
