Barco Named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week 4/28/25

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Hunter Barco was named this weeks Eastern League Pitcher of the week.

Barco started on Sunday April 27th, 2025, and threw three scoreless innings where he struck out eight hitters in a 4-1 Altoona win over Bowie. This extended his streak of scoreless innings to 20.2, which is five innings shy of the Curve franchise record for scoreless innings.

Barco is the number seven rated prospect in the Pirates system. This is his second pitcher of the week award in the minor league as he was named the SAL pitcher of the week on June 30th, 2024.

It’s good to see him continue to have success and wonder if he can break the Curve franchise record. Stay tuned to find out if he breaks the record. Also stay tuned to see if anymore Pirates prospects earn player, or pitcher of the week awards.
