Bait (2012)

Director: Kimble Rendall

Starring: Xavier Samuel, Sharni Vinson, Adrian Pang

A freak tsunami traps shoppers at a coastal Australian supermarket inside the building – along with 12-foot Great White Sharks.

With a myriad of shark movies out there – and all of them being compared to ‘Jaws’ – this is a refreshingly different idea for a shark movie.

This B-movie doesn’t have the best visual effects, but the sharks were scary enough, mainly due to the fact that these were very detailed and realistic mechanical sharks instead of FX. The confined space and element of disaster added to the suspense. The comic relief was a bit silly, but fortunately these scenes were few and far between and limited to two characters.

‘Bait’ might not please everyone, and the characters are a bit cliched and cheesy, but it nevertheless is entertaining and a good horror film with quite a bit of gore and unsympathetic deaths.

Would  I watch it again? Yes.
