AVCA Week 7 poll: Calvin unanimous No. 1

It’s no surprise, but Calvin is the unanimous No. 1 team in the AVCA Week 7 poll. Washington had been getting two or three top votes, and I was one of the holdouts who had the Bears as the No. 1 team. But Washington lost to Emory on Sunday, leaving Calvin as the lone undefeated team in the nation. Current No. 2 Emory and No. 3 Washington swapped places in the poll.

The rest of the top 10 remained the same. My top 10 and the AVCA’s are almost identical, the Nos. 9 and 10 teams being the only difference.

No. 24 Whitworth (14-5) replaced UW-Platteville in the top 25. Platteville (18-9) fell to the 28th spot after a loss at No. 22 UW-Whitewater.

Central and Midwest teams receiving votes in the Week 7 poll: 3. Washington 9. Concordia-Moorhead 10. Carthage 11. St. Thomas 16. Chicago 19. Elmhurst 22. UW-Whitewater Receiving votes: No. 28 UW-Platteville, No. 32 UW-Stevens Point, No. 33 Coe.
