AVCA Top 25 (9/9/25)
The AVCA has released their Top 25 for Week 2.
Their ranking had some movement in the Top 10 but only one new team in and one out this week. Top spot still goes to 3-time defending champion Juniata as they also had 77 first-place votes. That’s 3 more than last week so the bandwagon is almost full. Of course, I’m still waving on the sidelines as I have Oshkosh in my top spot. You can find my rankings for this week, here.
Rounding out the Top 5 are Whitewater (2 first-place votes), Oshkosh (6 votes), Johns Hopkins (1) and La Verne. Both Oshkosh and La Verne are new to the Top 5 replacing Emory and Hope who both lost this past week. Emory sits in 6th while Hope dropped to 8th. WashU, who also lost this past week, dropped out of the Top 10 being replaced by ETBU. Ordering for the next 15 teams was pretty static but we did see the coaches drop both Millikin and Chicago. Replacing them were Dubuque and Virginia Wesleyan.
Teams that are different between our rankings are Ithaca, Virginia Wesleyan and Christopher Newport for the AVCA. Instead, I have Franklin & Marshall, Carnegie Mellon and Montclair State. All three of those teams are receiving votes in the AVCA rankings. In my rankings, I dropped both Ithaca and Chris Newport this week but was heavily considering Virginia Wesleyan for inclusion. I also have no issue with keeping Ithaca as I wrote in my article. The biggest jump in the AVCA rankings was Otterbein going from 25 to 19th. Hope fell the most dropping 5 spots.
Teams we closely follow on this site in the rankings are La Verne (5), ETBU (10), Trinity (12), CMS (16) and Berry (21). Teams receiving votes are Salisbury, Whitworth and Southwestern.
