AVCA Top 25 (9/20/22)

The AVCA has released their Week 3 Top 25 Poll and not a single team was dropped this week! I dropped four in my rankings so there is definitely going to be a need to discuss something here.

For the second week in a row, we have a unanimous leader in CMS (90 first place votes). Trinity moves back into the second spot followed by Northwestern (up from 7), Juniata (down from 2) and Calvin (remains in place). I have four of these teams in my Top 5 as I have WashU instead of Calvin.

As I mentioned, no one was dropped this week but we did see some big drops within the rankings. Johns Hopkins moved from 14 to 25 after going winless this week. Colorado College went from 10 to 20 after only winning once. Hope went from 9th to 17 and Gustavus Adolphus went from 8th to 14. WashU was the biggest riser going from 20 to 6.

From Region X, we still only have CMS, Trinity and Colorado College in the poll. Receiving votes are UC Santa Cruz (really Region VI), Whitworth and (strangely) Mary Hardin-Baylor. Dark days for the region and far away from our glory seasons.

The biggest difference between the rankings is that I moved in IWU at 20 while the AVCA doesn’t have them ranked. I also still have Whitworth in my rankings in addition to Aurora, Millikin and Ohio Northern. The AVCA has MIT, Colorado College, Babson, Tufts and Johns Hopkins in their rankings so we mismatch on 5 teams this week.

The link to the voter’s rankings is incorrect so no deep dive into the individual votes this week.
