AVCA Top 25 (11/9/21)
The AVCA has released their Week 10 Top 25 Poll and there is only one left to go!
Colorado College dropped out of the Top 10 with NYU moving up to the 10th spot. The top 4 remained the same with Johns Hopkins in first with 89 first place votes. The remaining first place vote went to Wartbug who is in 4th. Sandwiched between is Trinity at 2 and CMS at 3. Rounding out the Top 5 is Calvin who switched places with Hope.
Dropping out of the poll was Tufts and they were replaced by Bowdoin.
Right now we have two teams in the Top 25 that will not be playing in the NCAA Tournament; Mary Hardin-Baylor (17) and UC Santa Cruz (23). It happens but I can’t remember when there have been two teams that this happened to in the same season.
The biggest drop for the week was UC Santa Cruz who fell 5 spots from 18 to 23. The biggest jump was by Gustavus Adolphus who went from 25 to 19.
From Region X, we have Trinity (2), CMS (3), Colorado College (11), Southwestern (14) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (17). Whitworth is still receiving votes and they were joined by UT-Dallas who is also getting votes now.
The AVCA and my rankings are now off by 3 teams. I have Wittenberg, Chris Newport and Susquehanna. The AVCA has Chicago, Mary Hardin-Baylor and UC Santa Cruz.
That’s about it. The tournament starts Thursday so enjoy what matters most!
