AVCA Top 25 (10/29/24)

The AVCA has released their Top 25 for Week 9.

We still have that one outlier with the MIT first place vote but otherwise it’s all Juniata who continue to lead our rankings. The are followed by Hope, Johns Hopkins, MIT and Emory. Looking at the Top 10, the only change is Marietta coming in for East Texas Baptist. The ordering of the first 13 teams changed slightly but the teams remain the same.

You can compare and contrast our rankings with mine, which you can find here.

The AVCA did decide to drop UW-Stevens Point, who was added last week. I had thought of adding them to my rankings but they had dropped their last three matches so I went in a different direction. Coming into the rankings is a team I added, as well, is Salisbury. Right now, my rankings differ in that I have Centre and Carnegie Mellon while the AVCA has Whitworth and Northwestern.

The biggest jump this week was 3 spots by both Case Western and UW-Platteville. The biggest fall was 4 spots, which was done by Northwestern.

Region X teams in the rankings are ETBU (11), CMS (12), La Verne (13), Southwestern (16), Trinity (19) and Whitworth (23). Like last week, there are no Region X teams in the receiving votes category.

Looking at the Top 25 NPI teams, and we see that the teams missing from the AVCA rankings are Franklin & Marshall (15), Chris Newport (18), William Smith (21), Gettysburg (22) and Virginia Wesleyan (25). All of these teams are in the receiving votes category.
