What??? Never seen a guy drinking beer before?

Sydney October 2013 (2 images)

First off, as I mentioned in my previous post, I’ll be away from WordPress and my blog for a couple of weeks.

OK, that’s out of the way. As you may know, I’m a camera tragic and I still shoot film. But recently I wanted a cheap small film camera, that didn’t take up much room. My Hasselblads really need their own bags. So I went to the store to buy a lomography camera. Instead I came out with an old Olympus Trip 35. I wonder if David Bailey (biography) would be happy? What’s David Bailey got to do with the Olympus Trip 35 you ask? Click here for an advertisement from the 1970’s.

Recently the Art & About Festival has been on in Sydney. Basically it’s a month long display of art in various public spaces. So I went for a look and took some photos exclusively using my Trip 35 and some Ilford HP5 film. These shots were from the end of one film roll; the others are still on the roll currently in my camera – it may take a few months before that gets processed. There’s something almost poetic about photographing art with an old film camera and some grainy film in this modern digital age.

Overnight a series of snail sculptures appeared in the city. These have been one of the more popular attractions…

Mum!!! It ate Billy!

Off topic, if you are not proficient in using Lightroom 5 (or even if you are), The Lightroom Queen (Victoria Bampton) has a useful and free downloadable 76 page quickstart guide on her site to help you: click here

So that’s it for now. I should be back sometime in mid November.

Cheers all!
