Another Kind of “Navigator”: A Buster Keaton Finding Aid

Happy Buster Keaton’s birthday! This year marks some significant Keaton anniversaries: it’s a century since he began directing and starring in his own feature-length comedies. We thought we’d mark the occasion by offering this finding aid to the Buster Keaton section of Travalanche, which features over five dozen posts. The menu below doesn’t include all of them, just key ones. In the section itself you will also find posts about many of the people who worked with Keaton, as well as contemporary Keaton-related news about screenings, events and so forth. This has been a good exercise, as it made me realize some gaps in our coverage, so expect several additional Buster Keaton posts in future.

But here is the spine of what we have now:

Keaton Performances on Film and Television

Keaton Cohorts and Colleagues

Nicholas Schenck (Brother-in-law and Producer, Pending)

Books and Docs About Keaton

And several more Keaton related articles here

For more on vaudeville history please see No Applause, Just Throw Money: The Book That Made Vaudeville Famous, and for more on classic comedy see Chain of Fools: Silent Comedy and Its Legacies from Nickelodeons to Youtube, both of which have lots of additional info about Buster Keaton.
