Anniversary Top Ten

Jul 10, 2008
5 min read

I’ve been posting the Top Tens according to the date they were done on air.  So far, I’ve been posting the April Top Tens (I’m about 3 months delayed).  But just for this one, I’ll be posting the Top Ten we did during our anniversary last Tuesday, July 8, 2008.  It’ll be weird posting about the anniversary 4 or 5 months from now.  So as Jude Rocha said on the show that morning, “Enough of this lovefest!”  Hehehe…just one last….

July 8, 2008 → The Top Ten Morning Rush Moments And Greeting

  1. YñaKi – That very lively interview with the U.S. Ambassador to the Phils., Kristie Kenney last Thanksgiving Day in November 2007 was really unforgettable!

  2. T Jam – When my sister & I were in high school, we always fight a LOT. I remember hating everything she liked, just to spite her. But deep inside, while covering my ears with the pillow, I listened to & loved you two. She always had RX day & night.

  3. Duday – When I sent my entry about me kissing my best friend, Delle said agad “You’re a lesbian!” And Chico said, “Nagdududay na ko sa yo, Duday.”

  4. Jose de vengenge – I passed an interview because of you guys. When my interviewer asked me about my hobbies, I started talking about you. Then she said she also listens & that her fave rushers were Loipogi, Young IndY & JDV. When I told her that I’m JDV, ayun pasado na. She even asked for an autograph from me!

  5. Ogy – I am an amateur musician and made a minus one for my good friend Mike Plana (an amateur singer) who wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream to record songs on CD. He did this as a birthday gift to himself, meant for distribution to friends only. Somehow, the CD found its way to you and was played on your program. The ecstacy of hearing your work for the first time on radio is indescribable. The song was BUTTERCUP.

  6. Mang Jose – During an interview on TV, someone offered to fund a wedding for you both.

  7. Topaz – My maid uses the top ten as her clock. One time nagpapalambot siya ng karne. I told her, “Not more than 30 minutes, ha!” She calmly replied, “Relax ate, nag top 5 na si Chico. Kanina bottom half pa lang…”

  8. Famous Marcus – One of the most memorable moment didn’t technically happen in the program. When you left the station, you were interviewed by Zach and Joey right in the NU 107 studios. It was a major Philippine radio event. The equivalent of Korina Sanchez interviewing Jessica Soho.

  9. Dixie – You guys were the reason why I finally came out. You practically dragged me out of my comfortable little closet.

  10. Siomai – That top ten entry about the boy who slid down a wall and got his eyelid caught in a hook protruding from the wall.

  11. No name – When I was in college, I introduced my crush to your show. then we started calling each other Kikoy & Kikay. When you left RX, I never saw him again.

  12. Maximo – Wala akong maisip na entry, pero ang masasabi ko lang, I’ve lost you once & I’ll never let it happen again. Kahit saang station kayo lumipat, susunod ako…wag lang sa States, kasi mahal ang  pamasahe.

  13. Señor Bill O’Reilly – The 3rd wheels to the dynamic twosome: from Brad Turvey to Sarah to Karen and the radio 1 kids. They brought their own kind of mayhem.

  14. Jedi Mstr – The time I called up the show to join the Saturday top ten. When I put my son on the phone, he said, “Good morning, Chico and Lolamar!”

  15. Nicky of Radio 1 – When Chico said, “RX93.1 is a proud member of the KKK!” I couldn’t stop laughing, people were looking at me laughing alone in a car with tintless windows!

  16. Acer  – June 17,2002: On one of the saddest birthdays I ever had, there was one happy moment: Chico and Delamar went back on air…and on RX! It was like a gift.

  17. Christian Silva/Spy Shadow – When everyone heard that 3rd little girl voice laughing with you, even if there were only two people in the booth.

  18. Alem – When I greeted my dad a happy birthday in Chinese even though he doesn’t listen.

  19. ABOYNAMEDABOY – I almost failed my English subject back in high school. Igive you credit for passing and I now work as a call boy working in a call center.

  20. Mommy M – November 15, 2006 I joined the “Happy Feet” promo. When I won the movie premiere tickets, my contractions began. The next day, I gave birth.

  21. Jollibee – Me and my family have been listening to you guys since I was in high school. Now I’m a doctor and still, my dad can’t get your names right. He calls you: “Gico and Dels”.

  22. stunnedsilence – During the Lipton Tea Time when you were talking about “the Omen” and the  antichrist & you went off air several times.

  23. Kendz – You guys make me laugh & make me think with every topic you discuss without getting into trash talking just to get into the ratings game.

  24. Hanazawa Rui – Sa sobrang kaba ko the 1st time I called, I asked a very lame question: “Kayo ba yung dalawang DJ na nasa fans day dati with Cristy Fermin?” Hiyang-hiya ako after.

  25. Spawner – You guys were the voice of the youth then, and now that many of us are parents, you still represent us.

  26. Rogie – I was driving to school when you had this caller seeking advice about his best friend who he secretly loved but thought of him as gay. When you mentioned his name, I realized he was a friend of mine and I was laughing so hard that I almost failed to hit the brakes when the light turned red and I almost hit a car.

  27. Bonique – During 2 pregnancies I always put on my tummy the radio especially during the top ten. My 2 kids are now 6 & 4 yrs old.

  28. KiD BuKid – Believe it or not, 3 years ago, my wife thought I totally forgot our 15 wedding anniversary. And there I was, laughing at your corny jokes, and she even got jealous of Delle — inuuna ko pa raw si Delle kesa i-greet sya. Suddenly you greeted us on air, kaya bati ulit!

  29. Rogie – When Chico and Delle interviewed the then unknown Nsync, with Justin Timberlake, live in the RX studios.

  30. Jedi Mstr – When I sent a picture of my finger to Chico’s cellfone and Delle mistook it for something else!

  31. Sayuri – When I translated into Japanese a plug for the show.  It took hours to record a 30-second plug, but I had so much fun.

  32. Paul – Sometime ago, I used to sleep in the car with you at the background. I sometimes find myself laughing (at your jokes) waking up even though I couldn’t remember why.

  33. Dencio – I remember listening to you guys when Delle was still doing just the news and Chico would always tease her. My firstborn was still in nursery, my second was just a baby about to turn 1 and my wife hated DJ’s who talked a lot. Now my eldest is in college, the baby is now in high school and my wife still hates DJ’s who talk a lot…but loves Chico and Delamar!

  34. Famous Marcus – I was one of your earliest listeners way back when Delle was still a newscaster and you two were always at each others throats, as in “nagbabangayan” on air. It got so bad that I just had to page you something mean, but still acceptable to the Easycall agent who wouldn’t allow profanity. So my angry page went “You two deserve each other.” Today, I text you the same message, but now mean it in the nicest, sincerest, sweetest way possible.
