ANNA VON HAUSSWOLFF – The Whole Woman / Stardvst (2025)
Anna von Hausswolff has released two singles from her upcoming album Iconoclasts, due October 31st. On August 21, 2025, the album was officially announced alongside the release of two singles: “The Whole Woman”, featuring Iggy Pop, and “Stardust”.
Anna von Hausswolff is a Swedish singer, composer, and musician born on 6 September 1986 in Gothenburg, Sweden. She is especially known for her dramatic, experimental music that blends gothic, drone, avant-garde, and post-rock elements, with the pipe organ as one of her signature instruments.
She first gained wider recognition with her 2010 debut album Singing from the Grave, but it was her later works — particularly Ceremony (2012), recorded on a massive church organ in Gothenburg, and The Miraculous (2015) — that established her as a major figure in contemporary experimental music.
Her compositions often explore themes of mortality, mysticism, the uncanny, and transcendence, and she is celebrated for her powerful, haunting voice, often compared to Diamanda Galás or Kate Bush, though her style is uniquely her own.
Von Hausswolff frequently collaborates with experimental musicians and has toured with bands like Swans, who share her intensity and sonic expansiveness. Her live performances are known for being immersive, ritual-like experiences where the organ and her voice create overwhelming waves of sound.
She’s also the daughter of Carl Michael von Hausswolff, a Swedish composer and conceptual artist associated with sound art and electronic music.
