Amityville 2: The Possession (1982)

Director: Damiano Damiani

Starring: James Olson, Burt Young, Rutanya Alda

A dysfunctional family moves into a new house, which proves to be satanic, resulting in the demonic possession of their teenage son.

There really was no need for this film. Let me be blunt and make my thoughts on the film very clear. The acting wasn’t convincing. The characters were more annoying than interesting. The stuff that happened was just ridiculous.

The film can easily be divided into two chapters. The first half tells the story of what might have happened to the actual DeFeo family, on who’s case the film series is based. Only here, they are the Montelli family. The second half revolves around Jack Montelli (real life Ronald DeFeo), and is more fictional.

With so many better possession movies out there, I doubt very much I’ll remember this one.

‘Amityville 2: The Possession’ was a box office success, earning $12.5 million on a $5 million budget.

Would I watch it again? No.
