Alexa Psotka Representing Western Pennsylvania in NCAA Beach Volleyball
Athletics is something in her blood. It’s a big part of who she is. Though her family has a rich hockey lineage, Alexa Psotka’s sport of choice is much too warm to be played on ice.

Beach volleyball is her game, or mostly just volleyball in general. She’s one of the few players from Pennsylvania to ever go Division I in the sport, something that will hopefully change over the years. Her days at Bethel Park High School featured indoor volleyball in the WPIAL, and ended with personal accolades of being named a three-time All-Section, WPIAL Big 56 First Team selection, a two-time All-Conference performer, a member of the 2020 4A Section II Runner-up team in the WPIAL, and over 1,000 career kills.
She also was a standout in track and field as a javelin thrower. The 2021 Bethel Park grad holds the school record for women’s javelin despite not being able to compete as a junior due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recruited to play for a collection of mid-major Division I programs, she picked the College of Charleston because the school has a great exercise science program, a great volleyball program, and it allows her to be at the beach each day.

Her favorite memories from athletics have come from traveling the country to play the game she loves with some of her closest friends. Though she is new to the intensity of college beach volleyball, she’s racked up some experience over the years, including playing in tournaments in Columbus, Ohio in high school which has helped prepare her for her first full-season of action in 2022.
Some interesting facts about Alexa include her father, Dailbor, played professional hockey in the Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues organizations, her cousins Klara and Anna Kubalkova are both members of the Czech Republic Junior National Team in handball, and she’s a dual-citizen of the Czech Republic and the United States.
Good luck as your prepare for the 2022 season, Alexa! Thank you for the opportunity to share your success and journey to the College of Charleston 🏐
