A Quick tip to Protect Your Brushes

Hi friends, I have a quick tip that will protect your brushes. Are you taking an art class or traveling with your paintbrushes? This tip will ensure your brushes don’t get damaged in transport.

You will need:

  • A tube like a clean Pringles can, mailing tube with caps, or tall cookie tin

  • A pencil, chopstick, dowel, skewer or ruler (something rigid that fits in the tube)

  • A rubber band *The brushes I used are by Artegria and they come in a tube, they are a great beginner set or extra set for travel (affiliate link)

Directions:

  • 1. Bundle your brushes together tightly with a rubber band.

  • 2. Slip the pencil (or dowel, skewer, etc.) into the bundle, ensuring the end extends beyond the brushes’ bristles by 1/2″ or more if the tube is longer.

  • 3. Slide the brushes into the tube with the bristles pointing up.

  • 4. Cap the tube and see how much movement the brushes have, you can adjust the pencil so there is no movement in the tube. This way the brushes can’t slide up and the bristles won’t hit the end and get damaged.

I hope you found this tip helpful and til next time happy crafting!
