A Perfect Murder (1998)

Director: Andrew Davis

Starring: Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, Viggo Mortensen

A wealthy Wall Street speculator discovers that his wife has a lover. He investigates him and uses the carrot and stick to make him murder his wife. Planned to detail, it seems like a perfect murder.

What if a perfectly conceived plan turns out not to be perfect after all? Steven Taylor (Michael Douglas) is about to find out…

Steven’s wife, Emily (Gwyneth Paltrow) has an affair. He’s been suspecting it for a while and now he has proof. Emily’s fling is artist David Shaw (Viggo Mortensen), who has a few secrets of his own. Steven is an influential man and discovering David’s secrets, he blackmails him to murder Emily. Everything is planned to perfection…or is it…?

‘A Perfect Murder’ is a difficult movie to review without spoilers. Since this is a movie full of twists and surprises you need to experience for yourself, I’m not about to do spoilers. This is a clever script and well acted – especially Michael Douglas.

The suspense is well crafted, making ‘A Perfect Murder’ a memorable crime thriller. With so much intrigue, I loved it!

‘A Perfect Murder’ earned $128 million on a $60 million budget, and received a Best/Horror Thriller award nomination.

Would I watch it again? Even if you know the outcome, this will be equally exciting with repeat viewings. Yes, I would watch it again.
