Rest
We live in a wilderness. None of us have entered our final “.” We are living the lives God sovereignly gave us and being tested in our own Meribah’s and Massah’s and Kadesh Barnea’s and time will tell whether we receive the joy of entering “” in an eternal Promised Land. The “” (vs. 11) the Israelites wanted but were not granted is a theme in the Book of Hebrews.
“.” (Heb 3:1-6)
Now, what we read next is where their heart-hardening took place in the wilderness.

“ (God promises rest but too many people will not get there, because they fail to examine their true spiritual condition.)(the 1st generation of Israel) .” (Heb 3:7-4:10)
What rest is this? Answer: the rest that comes through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a rest superior to the rest promised under Joshua and Moses. So …
“” (Heb 4:11).
You have the opportunity right now to get that promised rest. God wanted the Israelites to experience rest and the 1st generation didn’t. He now offers you the same. Don’t die grumbling in the wilderness; don’t harden your heart towards the Gospel any longer.
