47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)

Director: Johannes Roberts
Starring: Sophie Nélisse, Corinne Foxx, Brianne Tju
Four teen girls diving in a ruined underwater city quickly learn they’ve entered the territory of the deadliest shark species in the claustrophobic labyrinth of submerged caves.
I’m usually weary of sequels, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed ’47 Meters Down’, so decided to give this sequel a chance.
With the same director again, what went wrong with this film?! Bloody hell, this was just terrible! Bad dialogue. Bad script. Bad effects. Bad photography. Bad score. Unconvincing acting. Ugh!! This is a real B-movie, and a bad one at that. The film is so badly photographed, at times I could hardly make out what was happening during the underwater scenes. Ok, so the shark is blind, but surely he can smell???
The film has no suspense whatsoever. There are no characters I cared about. The jump scares are accompanied by such loud music that you get a fright due to the music and not what’s happening on screen. This was not interesting at all! Our ‘hero’, Mia, is a very weak character with no character development. Her back story was also quite boring. And there’s no pay-off with the film’s ‘bitch’, Catherine.
Interestingly enough, there are some really good moments – including excellent slow motion photography – towards the end. Sadly, though, it was not enough to redeem the film.
Would I watch it again? NO!!!!
