The Top Five Best “Part 4” MoviesNOTE: These are ranked not just by quality of movie, but also by how strongly it stands against the other installments in its series. For instance, (2005) could be on this list as it is a very good movie. However, there are at least 2 others in the series that most people would put ahead of it. Movies that outshine the other films in the series gets bumped to the front of the line. 

  1. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) — This one was tough, because and are highly rated among viewers as well. But I think it beats out the honourable mentions below.

  2. Rocky IV (1985)

  3. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

  4. Avengers: Endgame

  5. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

  4. The Empire Strikes Back (1980) — This one and the previous are so strong that they had to be on the list, despite the high quality and love for the originals.

Worst “Part 2” MoviesThis list could be a mile long, but here’s what I’ve come up with…

  1. Son of the Mask (2005)

  2. Teen Wolf Too (1987)

  3. Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)

  4. Staying Alive (1983)

  5. Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000)

  • Honourable Mentions: Exorcist 2: The Heretic (1983); Revenge of the Nerds 2: Nerds in Paradise (1987); Blues Brothers 2000 (1998); Wonder Woman 1984 (2020); More American Graffiti (1979); Caddyshack 2 (1988)… and the list goes on.

The Top Five “Part 1” Movies

Obvously there are greater “Part 1” movies than these; but for this list, gravity is given when the first movie was awesome and clearly the sequels. They may have been better off without the creation of its sequels:

  3. Taken (2008)

  4. Halloween (1978)

  5. Jaws (1975)

This summer marked 50 years since the release of Jaws. I rewatched it last week, which was a cool experience. It’s also the 50th for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Dog Day Afternoon, but I doubt I’ll watch them this year. Next year I’ll have to watch Rocky!
