With the first round of the playoffs now concluded we move on to the semifinal round in the WNBA playoffs. The semifinal round is best of five instead of the best of three we saw in the first round. Let’s preview the matchups and predict who will be facing off in the WNBA championship this season.

Minnesota Lynx vs Phoenix Mercury

Minnesota was the only team to sweep their first-round opponent with 2-0 series win over the Golden State Valkyries. Phoenix won their series 2-1 over the New York Liberty, eliminating the defending champions. This is a rematch from the first round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs, which was won by the Lynx.

My prediction is Minnesota wins 3-1.

Indiana Fever vs Las Vegas Aces

The Fever pulled off the upset in the first round as they defeated the Atlanta Dream in games two and three. They are the highest remaining seed left in the playoffs. The Aces needed all three games but defeated the Seattle Storm 2-1 in the series to reach the semifinals.

My prediction is Las Vegas over Indiana 3-1.
