The 2025 Eastern League postseason All-Star team has been announced, and it includes a pair of Pittsburgh Pirates prospects.
Catcher Rafael Flores and relief pitcher Wilkin Ramos were named to the team.
Flores was acquired in the David Bednar trade with the New York Yankees. He played 87 games for Somerset before being called up to Triple-A in July. He hit .287 with 16 home runs and 56 RBI during his time in Double-A. He played in 10 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before the trade and was then sent to Triple-A Indianapolis by the Pirates.
In 36 games for Indianapolis, he hit .281 with six home runs and 28 RBI. Flores was then made a September call-up by the Pirates and made his Major League debut. He is currently still the number eight ranked Pirates prospect in their top 30 list.
Ramos pitched in 35 games for Altoona this season. He went 3-2 with a 1.45 ERA. He also recorded three holds and went seven for seven in save opportunities. He was then promoted to Triple-A. He pitched in 12 games and made one start going 1-2 with a 6.60 ERA with two holds and 0/2 in save opportunities. He isn’t ranked in the top 30 prospects list.
Good to see more Pirates prospects earning post season honors. Both were well-deserved even if they didn’t spend a ton of time at the level this season. Can’t wait to see what happens with these two prospects moving forward.
