After a full season of PBA Elite League competition, it’s time to see which brand is the best at this week’s finals.

In the prelims round Team 900 Global, Team Hammer, Team Roto Grip, Team Ebonite and Team DV8 would compete.

Team Brunswick would finish third during the regular season. Team Motiv would drop to second after the final event of the season after holding first for pretty much the whole season. Team Storm would finish as the top seed after overtaking Motiv for the finals.

Preliminary Round

DV8 faced Ebonite in the opening match of the preliminary match. Ebonite won 191-177 as a trio of splits cost team DV8.

Team Hammer then met Ebonite in the next match. The match came down to the final frame as Team Hammer anchor bowler Bill O’Neill doubled to force Jake Peters to match the double. Peters was unable to do so leaving a split and allowing Team Hammer to advance 214-199.

The next match with Team Roto Grip and Team Hammer would also come down to the final frame. O’Neill once again delivered for Team Hammer with a strike and nine pins allowing Team Hammer to escape with a 206-204 victory.

That set up the final matchup of the preliminary round between Team 900 Global and Team Hammer. Team 900 Global would then go on to defeat Team Hammer 237-219 and move on to the championship round matches.

Championship Round

Team 900 Global faced Team Brunswick in the opening match of the round. Team Brunswick won 233-218 to advance to the semifinal match.

Team Motiv faced Team Brunswick in that match. Team Brunswick was leading the match and on route to an upset before splits in the eighth and ninth frames cost them. Team Motiv would then go on to win the match 213-185 to reach the finals.

The finals were in a race to two game format instead of the one game match. It would be between Team Motiv and Team Storm, the top seed. Both teams were near the top of the standings the entire length of the regular season. However, in the last week of the regular season Team Storm pulled ahead of Motiv to take the number one seed. Would Motiv take the top spot back or would Team Storm hold on?

Game one was very close. However, Storm anchor bowler Jesper Svensson threw three strikes in the 10th frame to take game one 189-186.

The second game wasn’t close at all. Team Storm struck a lot and finished with a 275 game to easily best Motiv’s 181. This finished off the two game sweep and awarded Storm the Manufactures Cup.

Team Storm also received $100,000 as the top prize. Team Motiv took home $75,000 for second.

The PBA Tour now shifts to the PBA Tour playoffs starting this week. Stay tuned for coverage.
