The NBA held their draft on June 25th and 26th, 2025. Let’s checkout and break down the selections in this year’s draft.

Dallas took Cooper Flagg at number one. There wasn’t much surprise with the pick outside of Dallas winning the pick despite low odds to land the number one spot. He was the lone pick made by Dallas in the draft.

Dylan Harper was selected by San Antonio at number two. VJ Edgecombe would then follow at three to the 76ers. Kon Knueppel was selected fourth by Charlotte. Ace Bailey would round out the top five selections heading to Utah.

The first trade happened at the 10th pick with Houston trading Khaman Maluach to the Suns. This was one of 10 picks traded on the first night in what was certainly an active trade market during the draft.

Another 15 picks were delt during the second round making it even more active than the first day. Seemed like this draft had more trades than usual in my book.

Brooklyn had the most picks of the first round with four. Nine teams didn’t make a selection in the first round. In the second round six teams went without a selection.

The final pick in the draft was Jahmai Mashack from Tennesse. He was drafted by the Rockets before being traded to Memphis. So, it looks like he gets to stay in the same state which is kind of cool.

Though I think the thing from this draft that go the most attention was the hat situation. Scott Van Pelt was saying how it’s wrong to have a player be drafted and then traded but still wear the hat of the drafting team.

He does have a good point though it’s a big moment for the player drafted, so why not get the detail right. Why not let them wear the hat of the team that traded for them the team they are going to play for once the trade becomes official. Seems very reasonable to me.

Overall, it was a very interesting draft this year. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for this class when they start their NBA careers.
