2025 MLB Wild Card Playoffs

The regular season is over, and we now move on to the MLB playoffs. First up is the Wildcard round. Let’s preview the matchups and make some predictions for the winners. Each series is best of three during the round.

American League

Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians

It’s the battle of the AL Central division. Cleveland finished off the season clinching the division on the last day of the season. However, Detroit only finished one game behind them and once was the best team in the MLB at one point this season.

My prediction Detroit over Cleveland.

Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees

The classic rivalry is renewed for another chapter in the playoffs. Can the Red Sox knock out the defending American League champions?

My prediction New York over Boston.

National League

Cincinnati Reds vs Las Angeles Dodgers

The defending world series champion Dodgers face the surprise of the season in the Reds. Could the Reds continue their unlikely run this season and give us a new champion this year?

My prediction is Dodgers over Reds.

Chicago Cubs vs San Diego Padres

Both teams had good seasons with 90 plus wins. However, they are both looking for something more.

My prediction is Cubs over Padres.
